DESIGN EXPERIENCE
Architect consultant for site selection analysis, site planning, architectural design, construction documents and construction administration. Design experience includes educational facilities, commercial, multi-family residential, building renovation and historical restoration, residential, and office design. Representative Projects include:
Louisiana Home Builders Association Building
The building is designed to house state offices of the Home Builders Association, and also features a lecture/banquet hall on the ground level. This facility was design with the Main Street Program to enhance the image of downtown Baton Rouge. 1986 Rose Award Winner AIA.
Downtown Study for The Foundation of Historical Louisiana
Piazza and Associates Architects was awarded the grant study by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Main Street Program to develop a set of standards to assist the Foundation of Historical Louisiana in the redevelopment of downtown Baton Rouge. The study was to show the owners of downtown buildings the do’s and don’ts of renovation and restoration.
The Carlysle at Bay Colony, Naples, Florida
This 20 story condominium build was designed for the Westinghouse Corporation for their Bay Colony Development in Pelican Bay. The building is a four unit per floor design offering through views of the Gulf of Mexico and the Pelican Bay/Naples area.
Louisiana Cajundome Convention Center
A 200,000 square foot convention center complex added to the Cajundome site in Lafayette Louisiana. The Building houses expandable exhibit halls, meeting rooms, offices, and support facilities. Phase, one completed in 2001.
La Quinta Inn & Suites, Downtown New Orleans
A fourteen story hotel located in the heart of New Orleans Business District. The building is a unique addition to the hotel chain because of the characteristics of the small site and architecture of old New Orleans. Completed in 2001.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Having over 34 years of extensive experience in restoration and renovation projects, and 16 years of experience in educational facilities. Mr. Piazza is involved in all aspects of design including; site selection analysis, site planning, architectural design, construction documents and construction administration. Representative Educational Projects include:
Palm Harbor University High School
The school is designed to house a medical magnet program in conjunction with the University of South Florida, and also features a 900 seat auditorium. This facility is design to house a student capacity of 1860 and expandable to 2,500 students.
Pineview School for the Gifted
This 163,080 square foot campus for K-12 school was designed in conjunction with Carl Abbott Architects out of Sarasota, Florida. Completed in 1994, the school has a student capacity of 1,200.
Manatee Middle School
This Facility is a two story prototype middle school developed for Collier County Public Schools to meet the growing need of the County. The 151,150 square foot facility completed in 1995 was design to share an ice storage mechanical system with the adjacent Manatee Elementary.
Manatee Elementary School
A one story prototype elementary school designed to have shared ice storage mechanical system with Manatee Middle School. The 94,750 square foot school was completed in 1995 and has a student capacity of 830.
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
Mr. Piazza is involved in all aspects of architecture including; construction administration and construction management. Mr. Piazza was the Director of Construction Management for Monroe County, Florida for three years. As Construction manager he was involved with all of the construction projects for Monroe County, which falls under the 304 fund established as a one cent tax to fund their projects. Establishing a building needs list for the county for a ten years period and updating budgets for the projects list annually, whether renovation of existing structures, additions to existing buildings, or new buildings. Projects for the Monroe County includes: Renovation of the Old Court House, Renovation and Additions to Key West International Airport, Marathon Park and Marina, Gato Building Renovation to the County Office Building, Renovation to the Monroe, County Court House, Renovation to East Martello Historic Fort.
MASTER PLANNING EXPERIENCE
Mr. Piazza is also involved in Master Planning and Architectural Conceptual Design. He was the Director of Architecture for Michael Redd and Associates and President of Reddesign Architects. Some of the projects that have been completed for MRA and Piazza Design are: Cay Club International Projects, Atlantica Resort Village-Dominican Republic, True East Resort-Grand Bahamas, Alligator Bay Resort and Marina-Long Cay -Bahamas, El Conquistador Country Club and Tennis Center-Bradenton-Florida, Palm Hills Club House and Resort-Cairo-Egypt.
